Reviews:

1.5         Philbert Dy (Click the City)

“The film as a whole is a real chore. It doesn’t have any forward momentum, the characters fumbling through this story with no clear idea of where they’re going or what they’re supposed to be doing. They’re all just buried in their backstories, hoping in their heads that their issues will somehow be resolved.” (Read full review)

1.5         Zig Marasigan (Rappler)

“What’s disappointing about Basement isn’t that it’s another faceless title in the crowd of horror films, but that it appears completely content with its own mediocrity. Like its characters, Basement lacks any motivation to break free from its self-imposed prison, happy instead to wallow in an underground parking lot, waiting to be executed.” (Read full review)

1.5         Cathy Peña (Make Me Blush)

“Lee populates his narrative with flawed individuals that it’s hard to pick a single character you’d want to root for. This spells disaster. After all, an audience doesn’t get into a singular experience totally detached from it. It’s like watching a ball game; we sit as spectators rooting for a team. Otherwise, we might as well go home and sleep.” (Read full review)
