Synopsis: Alagwa (Breakaway) is a film inspired by an urban legend in Chinatown, Manila about the disappearance of a Chinese-Filipino boy. Robert Lim (Rosales) is a travelling salesman, and a single parent who struggles on finding means to support his son (Cariño). Robert enrolls his son in a reputable Chinese school in Manila in his hope for a better future for his son. One fine weekend Robert goes to a shopping mall with his son. While wandering around the mall, his son suddenly disappears; without a clue, without a trace. As Robert searches for his son, a video footage from the mall’s surveillance camera reveals the abduction of his son. Thus, Robert’s search begins.
