It’s almost the end of the year but, as with America’s Oscar season, the 2012 Philippine cinema scene is just about to get bombarded with quality films in the next few weeks.

The Film Development Council of the Philippines will roll out its second batch of Sineng Pambansa film grantees in Davao City on November 22-25.

A few days later, the Cinema One Originals Film Festival will showcase 13 films in competition from November 29 to December 3 in  Edsa Shang Cineplex, and from November 28 to December 9 at Robinson’s Galleria Movie World. Aside from the competition films, Cinema One will also show four films in exhibition, including  Alagwa (Ian Loreños) and Graceland (Ron Morales).

The Cinemanila International Film Festival will follow suit on December 5-11 at Market Market, showing five full-length films in its Digital Lokal section and three films in the Made in Manila section.

The Metro Manila Film Festival New Wave Section will also feature five films on December 19-22 at Glorietta 4 cinemas.

Of course, the final festival is the annual MMFF, which will show eight mainstream entries nationwide starting December 25.

Pinoy Rebyu editor Skilty Labastilla ranks in his blog which films/actors he thinks are the contenders for film and performance categories in next year’s movie awards, as of November 12:
